Christmas ads have always been a part of the festive season, whether it is the nostalgic Kellogs cornflakes ad that re-emerges every December, or the new Kevin the Carrot ad that comes out every year- we look forward to them all.
Thankfully, Christmas came early this year and Kevin has returned along with all his vegetable friends and this year they have used the story of Mission Impossible as inspiration.
As always the Aldi ad is proving to be a huge success with many saying that it is up there with the best of the best.
Posting the ad on their social media ALDI said: 'Those dastardly humbugs took the Christmas Spirit, but never fear – they’re no match for this unbe-leaf-able duo.'
Enticing people to watch they wrote: 'Find out if Kevin and Katie manage to save the day in our brand-new Christmas ad.'
In the ad, viewers watch Kevin the Carrot as he embarks on a mission to save the spirit of Christmas, where humbug sweets, led by the evil Dr Humbug, have plunged the once cheery village into darkness.
The ad takes viewers on a hilarious adventure featuring where the carrot carries a briefcase, wears a fake moustache as a disguise and sets booby traps in an attempt to rescue Christmas.
ALDI Marketing co-director Kyrsten Halley said: 'The message behind the campaign is a more serious one – we want to make sure everyone can have the best Christmas possible. It’s why we have a big focus on quality this Christmas, while making sure our prices continue to be unbeatable.'
The retailer is hoping the blend of both family-friendly fun and a more meaningful message will resonate with viewers to keep the love for Kevin strong as he enters his ninth year as the face of the Christmas campaign.
It looks like this year's ad is another roaring success with several people sharing on social media that they adore this year's theme, and of course, Kevin.
One viewer said 'Aww now I can put my tree up as Kevin has saved Christmas once again! well done Aldi for another fab advert and bringing the Christmas spirit again!'
